An art show opening (and updated events list)

I’ve updated my events page with lots of new book-signings and other things for the spring, mostly related to the release of my new book “What It’s Like to Be a Bird“. More events and updates will be added so keep checking there to see what’s going on.

About 40 of the original paintings from my new book will be on exhibit at Mass Audubon’s Museum of American Bird Art. The show opens Saturday February 15, 2020, and runs through mid-May. I painted the bird portraits in the book approximately double life size, so that when they were reduced by half and reproduced in the book they would be life size images. This makes the original paintings literally “larger than life”. They were fun to paint and, hopefully, fun to look at.

As in the book, each painting is accompanied by a short paragraph of text describing some interesting facet of bird science, making the whole exhibit a combination of art and science, as educational and thought-provoking as it is aesthetically pleasing.
